Spread across an area of 4000 acres of land on two different campuses, BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. Home to 5 institutes, IIT-BHU, 16 faculties, 140 departments, 4 advanced centers, and 4 interdisciplinary schools covering almost all streams of knowledge known to mankind.

Bharat Kala Bhavan, the reputed museum of the University, is a treasure trove of rare collections. A near one thousand bed hospital is equipped with all the modern amenities. University provides a wide range of facilities including separate medical complexes for students and staff, sports and hobbies centers, Internet facilities, and units like PublicRelations Cell, Printing Press, Preservation Centers, Agricultural research farms, PoultryFarms, Pisciculture, Radio Station, Petrol Pump, ATMs, Banks, Post Office, SubsidizedCanteens, an NCC barrack, and its own Security Force.
